Lauren Howell Wood

 Lauren is the owner and dance director at The Studio By Lauren. She graduated from Conway High School in 2008, where she was a member of the high school dance team. She is a 2012 graduate of the University of Central Arkansas. Lauren has had over 19 years of dance training in ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, musical theatre and clogging, with a special emphasis on tap. She received most of this training from Ashley’s Dance Art’s. She spent time studying tap under Kathy Wheatley and also studied ballet under Antonio Mesa at Arkansas Academy of Dance. Lauren is both a highly awarded competition dancer and choreographer. As the owner and instructor of TSBL’s competition team she has been awarded numerous teacher awards and choreography awards. Her 2017-2018 competition team was awarded the highest placement at nationals under her instruction. Lauren’s face can be seen on the cover of two National Dance Competition programs for the 2009 season. She is a two time national photogenic winner and In 2008 her tap solo was the highest scoring tap at nationals in Las Vegas. She has also attended numerous dance conventions. She enjoys spending time in New York City where she takes classes at The Pulse workshop, Dance Teacher Summit, and Broadway Dance Center. These classes are designed especially for dance teachers and have been taught by well known instructors and choreographers who choreograph for the very popular hit TV show So You Think You Can Dance. She was a member of the UCA Honeybears dance team for the 2010 season. Lauren also competed in the Miss Arkansas Pageant System. She was Miss Spirit of Arkansas 2011, Miss South Arkansas 2012, Miss University of Central Arkansas 2013, and Miss Diamond Lakes 2014. At the Miss Arkansas Pageant, Lauren has won the Ashlen Batson Esprit De Corp award twice, Overall Evening Gown 2 years in a row, Overall Swimsuit, Quality of Life Finalist, been named the Children’s Miracle Network Miracle Maker, and placed in the top 5 two years in a row. Lauren has choreographed for numerous pageant contestants all throughout the country as well. She has spent time in New York studying tap personally under the Broadway choreographer, Shea Sullivan. Lauren loves working with the dancers and pageant contestants at The Studio By Lauren and encouraging them to reach their full potential.

Callie Barnett

 Callie is a junior at the University of Central AR, majoring in Communication and minoring in Journalism. Callie is also a member of Sigma Kappa sorority. Her hobby is modeling and she is signed with Sculp Agency. She has been dancing since the age of 2, and has training in lyrical, contemporary, ballet, jazz, and hip hop. She is from Rogers, AR and grew up dancing first at Ballet Westside and then at BakStage Dance Company. Callie loves dance and feels it is a beautiful way to express yourself while keeping active. We are grateful to have Callie back this year and teaching The Studio By Lauren dance students!

Kira Jinkins

 Kira is from Vilonia, Arkansas. She started dancing with Jacksonville Dance Company when she was about 4 years old. Since then she has performed at recitals, many dance competitions, half times during football games, and even stroll offs. She has a background in tap, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, and lyrical. She loves all styles of dancing but tap and hip hop are her favorites! She competed nationally for 10 years. Kira is excited to be a part of the TSBL staff and we are excited to have her on our team!

Taryn Bewley - summer/guest instructor

Taryn Bewley is an upcoming sophomore with a major in Psychology and a minor in Legal studies. Taryn has training in ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, and lyrical, with a focus on tap. She has won numerous regional and national awards, including highest scoring tap solo at Starsystems National Dance Competiton and being one of six accepted into Adrenaline Dance Convention’s Tap Crew. Over the years, she was a part of Arkansas’ only professional youth ensemble for tap, Untapped. Taryn has also received numerous dance scholarships, including standout awards at the dance conventions Nuvo, Jump, Adrenaline, and Tap Into the Network. Over the years, she has had the opportunity to train with many professionals, including Matt Boyce and Angela Carter. Taryn has been involved in the Miss Arkansas system for 4 years, hold the titles of Miss Spirit of Arkansas’ Outstanding Teen 2015, Miss Metro’s Outstanding Teen 2016, and Miss Ouachita 2017, earning a top ten finish for two years in the Miss Arkansas’ Outstanding Teen pageant. She is currently Miss Petit Jean Valley 2018 and will be competing in Miss Arkansas this summer.
